Recent calcareous foam sinter in the Zloncice-clough near Kralupy upon the Vltava River
Journal of the Czech Geological Society, volume 38 (1993), issue 1-2, 110 - 112
The bed of a small creek running through a rocky dough contains in several places (see Fig. 1) coatings, skins and crusts of fytogenic, highly porous calcareous sinter (tufa). The bedrock is composed of Proterozoic metabasalts containing approx. 10 % CaO. Invariantly, the occurrences of tufa are confined to cascade sections of the creek. The pH-values of the water range between 6.8 to 7.4, its temperature between 9.5 to 11.5 °C, both increasing downstream.
